No one disagrees that our old Kai Tak Airport is one of the dangerous airports to land.Usually aeroplanes had to turn 90 degrees before the “Signal” Hill (with a chess-board on the vertical surface of a small hill at Kowloon Chai), lowered their altitudes, passed hundreds of low buildings at Kowloon City and aimed at the single short runway at the edge of buildings. Sometimes planes could not fly straight at the runway because of strong winds. Quick steering and immediate correction of route were necessary.
The location of the airport was so close to residential buildings made the pilots very excited every time they land, but such awareness for a safe landing raised the skill of the pilots to a high level.

Wonderful photos of aeroplanes in the middle of the highrises, one photo even seems to have an aeroplane landing on top of a roof!
In the old days people usually joked about those in the aeroplanes could see what dishes those live inside the highrises were serving.
