Men’s Marathon at Beijing (4) - Running speeds

Let us study the running speeds of these marathon runners at Beijing Olympics.

In the first 5 km, the leading runner spent 14.53 minutes. The running speed was about 20.6 km/h.

In the first 10 km, the fastest runner spent 29.46 minutes, so the speed was about 20.4 km/h.

At 15 km, the time taken was 44 minutes 36 minutes and the running speed was 20.17 km/h. It seemed that the speed was declining a little.




At 25 km, the time taken was 1 hour 13 minutes 58 seconds and the speed was 20.28 km/h.





At 30 km, the time taken was 1 hour 29 minutes 12 seconds and the speed was 20.18 km/h.





At 35 km, the taken was 1 hour 44 minutes 37 seconds and the speed was 20.07 km/h.




The Kenyan runner, Wansiru, took 1 hour 59 minutes 54 seconds to finish 40 km and his speed was 20.02 km/h.


The Marathon winner, Wansiru, took 2 hours 6 minutes 32 seconds to finish the whole distance of 42.195 km. His overall running speed was 20 km/h.

A Fish's head and tail

Connie, Philip and Abby could not attend the Home-coming party for Hayley on November 8th, but I had preserved the head and the tail of a red garoupa(紅斑) for Philip, not in my refrigerator but in my memory card.

During the dinner, one sample of cooked dishes of food was taken round and shown to the customers of each table and then the former would be divided and distributed in small dishes to the latter. No photos could be taken because the dishes of food were held in "mid-air" and they were just “flashes" of images across our eyes.

The fish and tail were exceptions. The restaurant expected that some of the customers would like to eat these two valuable parts called “有頭有尾”. Philip would have eaten them if he had been in Hong Kong.

Now that we have distance-learning, distance-monitoring……., there is no reason why distance-eating is not possible.

Eyes can eat ice-cream, so they can fish head and tail.

The last two photos showed the delicious fish head and tail and their lover, Philip, at a wedding banquet in January, 2006!

剪紙藝術

我認為中國應該發揚光大傳統剪紙藝術。尤其是香港，政府應聘請一些剪紙藝術家分駐旅遊景點，即席揮剪，示範剪紙技術。藝術家一方面可以展覽其作品，另一方面又可以售出作品，正是推廣及賺錢集於一身。

這裡葉師傅三兩下手勢已經剪了一隻公雞出來，繼而一對生動的嘴對嘴的公雞。








下一隻是黑色細緻的蝴蝶，它像有生命似的伏在枱上。








葉師傅細說自己見證了這門藝術的盛衰。要延續這種藝術，相信要政府大力支持及推廣才可以吧！

葉師傅的女兒，受父親的感染，也拿起較剪，剪起紙來；不過與父親不同的是，她加入了現代元素，可能是加菲貓，哈囉姬蒂，叮噹………之類呢！








連訪問葉師傅的女記者都感興趣，剪下一條紅色的神仙魚。

Men’s Marathon at Beijing (3) – Ran by the side of a canal

Out of the Temple of Heaven Park, the runners turned right along the road by the side of a canal. The neatly-built houses in this area were low, four to five storeys. Green trees were planted to give several green belts here.

The runners passed Yong Ding Men Gate Tower which stood alone on their left.








Roads began to merge and most onlookers on the pavements waited to see these tough runners pass by. The leading runners were mostly Africans – 1 Ethiopian, 3 Kenyans, 2 Eritreans, 1 Moroccan, and an exceptional Spaniard.








The runners ran past some showers where water sprinkled over their bodies to lower their temperatures.








The chase group of runners were mostly Europeans and Asians.
At one time(28 minutes 55 minutes from the start), the Spaniard (1608) took the lead. He was drinking water from a red bottle (private, maybe). Old trams had to stop to let these runners passed.

萬千星輝賀台慶(2)

以下我介紹萬千星輝賀台慶其中一個節目:

無線電視遨請曾在劇集裏的情侶檔演員在台慶夜唱其情歌。

這個主意不俗，一方面觀眾可以懷舊一番，又可以再見到十幾二十年後的『情侶』究竟變成是怎麼樣的。

第一對螢幕情侶是：李琳琳 +石修








第二對螢幕情侶是：伍衛國 + 呂有慧








第三對螢幕情侶是：胡楓 +吳君麗








第四對螢幕新情侶是：鄭嘉穎 + 佘詩曼








最後全部四對螢幕情侶合跳一隻舞做完結!

萬千星輝賀台慶(1)

昨晚是無線電視四十一歲台慶夜，藝員傾巢而出，合力表演舞蹈、唱歌、跳彈床，戲劇。















最初藝員分別穿上西方及中國古代宮殿禮服載歌載舞地出場，隨著其他藝員穿著現代服裝也進場，最後六位司儀，包括鄭裕玲、汪明荃、曾志偉、阿叻、崔建邦等等。

Men’s Marathon at Beijing (2) – Inside Temple of Heaven Park

At 7:42 a.m., the Marathon runners reached the entrance of Temple of Heaven Park (天壇公園).
It was a rewarding run inside the park.








Firstly, the air was fresh inside. Secondly, it was shady and cooler inside, sheltered from the sun. Thirdly, drinks were provided inside for the runners to compensate their loss of water from sweating.








It was a six- minute run. They passed 圓丘壇, a round 3-ring raised platform (a station for exchange of horses), a low house called 皇穹宇 and the three-storey Temple of Heaven (天壇).

At 7:48 a.m., the runners left the park by an exit which led them back to the main roads.
