In recent years, HKSAR urges people of
B.Y.O.B. means “Bring Your Own Bags”. It is a very good idea to meet the need of “Environmental Protection” and to save the World.
Before HKSAR imposes a law on a tax of 50 cents to be given to the government for each plastic bag issued to the shoppers at any shops in Hong Kong, different companies, shopping centres, petrol companies, organizations, even schools give people EP bags (I called them) 環保袋 as free gifts. The purposes are two, first as advertisement and second as environmental protection.
We welcome such acts and carry some of these bags along whenever we go to supermarkets or ordinary markets.

These bags are nothing unusual, but with the words “I’m NOT A Plastic Bag!” printed on them. I don’t believe these buyers of bags will carry them to markets or supermarkets. They just want to own them, simply because some famous stars own them first.

What is the full name for HKSAR please? Is it really one plastic bag for 50 cents wherever we go shopping in HK? If that is the case, no wonder you need so many EP bags.

We have just discovered your message to us on 7/7. we are as excited as you to have the robins building their nest in your backyard. Last year we have a magpie nest in our backyard. We didn't know about it until there were excessive bird droppings underneath the tree. The nest was too high for us to reach as well as that magpies could be quite aggressive. We would love to know the development of the robin family. Those little ones just capture our heart.

Really yes! You have to pay 50 cents if you need a plastic bag for carrying your things home. The law has not yet laid down at this moment. Don't worry so early.
Perhaps at the time when you come back to Hong Kong, you will have to "Bring Your Own Bags" whenever you buy things.
