Before Ho Keung and Yin Ping left Franz Josef, they made the second visit to Lake Matheson on September 8th to catch some of the beautiful sceneries there. The cows they met on their way were so relaxed in their rearing ground, never to worry about the grass they want to eat. They were not scared at all when the couple walked near them. Possibly they are tame in nature.
The trail that they walked on was paved with very fine grains of stone and the vegetation was not never so dense as that in tropical rain forests.
The reflections of distant mountains from the peaceful water, stagnant, I may say, told us that the piece of water was undisturbed by human or other animals. It remained as it was for so many years.
The couple added : The mountain peaks are still cloudy.

Lake Matheson reflects Mt Cook, the highest mountain in New Zealand. We went there again for its beauty and tranquility, as well as to try our luck to see if the sky was clear enough to expose the mountain peak which would have its reflection in the water. Anyway although the peak was still covered by cloud, we were happy to see the lake again.
The backdrop of ice covered mountains to the cows looked so majestic.
