100 m Women’s Sprinting Event (Final)

Let’s see how the three fastest Jamaica women competed in the 100m Sprinting Final and find out who the winner of the race was.

The three Jamaicans were Sherone SIMPSON (2145), Shelly-Ann FRASER (2165) and Kerron STEWART (2178).

In the top photo, SIMPSON was in Lane 2, FRASER in Lane 4 and STEWART in Lane 7.

In the second photo, it seemed that FRASER was behind SIMPSON owing to the angle of shot. Actually FRASER was leading.

In the third photo, FRASER dashed towards the finishing line to get her Gold medal.

The fourth photo was the “Finishing” Photo provided by the IOC at Beijing. The number sticker “4” on the leading athlete showed that FRASER was the winner because she was in Lane 4. It followed that SIMPSON came second and STEWART third.

The bottom showed FRASER’s result : 10.78 sec

The existing world record was 10.49 sec and the Olympic record 10.62 sec.
