As first, mother and sisters of Michael Phelps (費斯) were worrying if Phelps could get his Eighth Gold medals at the Water Cube Swimming Stadium in Beijing. They were greatly relieved and felt really happy when Phelps succeeded in snatching the last Gold medal (the eighth one) into his hands.
It was a great moment for the Americans at home or at Water Cube, especially the Phelps’ family to see this swimming genius (some say that Phelps is a “new water monster” (新水怪). He earned 8 Gold medals in the past few days and had written a new page to the History of the Olympics. His successes were due to his build, muscles, skill and hard work.
The family support also plays an important role to Phelps. Look! The sisters were very proud of their brother and the mother felt very happy indeed.
“It’s fun,” Phelps said. “From here it is a continuation with my goal of raising the sport of swimming as high as I can.”
“The greatest thing is proving nothing is impossible,” Phelps added. “So many people said it could not be done, but all it takes is imagination. That is something I have learned.”

Michael Phelps has beaten Mark Spitz(史畢茲)’s 1972 record of seven gold at one Olympic Games.

Michael Phelps is certainly a great swimmer of all times and we pay big respect to his hard work. Yet we think that for a winner to say "nothing is impossible" has overlooked all those who have worked just as hard (if not more) but still "failed" in the eyes of others.
