Men’s Marathon at Beijing (3) – Ran by the side of a canal

Out of the Temple of Heaven Park, the runners turned right along the road by the side of a canal. The neatly-built houses in this area were low, four to five storeys. Green trees were planted to give several green belts here.

The runners passed Yong Ding Men Gate Tower which stood alone on their left.








Roads began to merge and most onlookers on the pavements waited to see these tough runners pass by. The leading runners were mostly Africans – 1 Ethiopian, 3 Kenyans, 2 Eritreans, 1 Moroccan, and an exceptional Spaniard.








The runners ran past some showers where water sprinkled over their bodies to lower their temperatures.








The chase group of runners were mostly Europeans and Asians.
At one time(28 minutes 55 minutes from the start), the Spaniard (1608) took the lead. He was drinking water from a red bottle (private, maybe). Old trams had to stop to let these runners passed.
