First Trip to U.S.A. (Day 2)

On April 15^th, Saturday, last year, we boarded the bus at 8:30. At about 9, we reached Disneyland. Ken led us round Disneyland. In the Main Street we saw a horse pulling a cart of tourists. We first watched a 3-D film at “Enchanted Tiki Room”.

Next we had a car-ride through dark caves at Indiana Jones' Adventure. At the exit, we took photos in front of Indiana Jones’ truck.

The next game we played was the Buzz Light Year Astro Blasters.

Ken took us to California Adventure which was the new play-site of Disneyland. After getting fast-passes for “Soaring over California”, we went inside “Tortilla factory” to taste its free pancakes. We dropped in the Bug’s land to watch a 3-D film called “It is tough to be a bug”. Next our tour members dispatched to go anywhere we liked.

There were up-and-down rails for roller- coasters, and swirling machines inside California Adventure. My wife was able to take a photo with a dragon kissing my head.

At “Pacific Wharf”, we had Mexican tacos and drinks as lunch.

Next we returned to the main theme park to take a train-ride round Disneyland. We were able to watch the Parade in the Main Street. Quite a number of cartoon figures appeared before us!

We next queued up for some time before we could go into the Haunted Mansion. It was a car-ride again. The different scenes were not scary at all!

Next we stepped onto to a raft which took us to Tom Sawyer’s Island. We watched , but had not enough time to board the Mark Twain Riverboat moved by turbines.
We rushed back to California Adventure to watch the film “Soaring over California”. Ken suggested us to take seats in the first row, so that we would be in the topmost seats without looking at the moving feet in the lower seats. This film is amazingly good. My wife and I had the feeling that we were flying over the grape plantations at Napa Valley, the Grand Canyon, Golden Gate Bridge and over the fabulous cities of Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The most exciting moment came when I “flied” over the deck of an aircraft-carrier and I almost “touched down” its runway. Terrific!

After the show, it was almost 5 o’clock. My wife and I decided to leave Disneyland earlier because we did not wait to see the fireworks at eight. Before we took our hotel shuttle-bus, we went to buy burgers as dinner from the McDonald opposite the street. These burgers were more expensive than those in Hong Kong!
