Giraffes at feast

This was a photo taken recently by Felix at San Diego Zoo, in Southern California. What a happy time these giraffes had! They were eating heartily at their food.

I enjoy looking at their gentle manner. They would never chase for food. Because of their long necks, they had to keep themselves a certain distance away from the trough of grass.

I wonder why that trough was so small. Perhaps the zoo wanted them to get together like a family to enjoy their feast.
