A glass wall had separated people from two different worlds in these few days at Metro Park Hotel, Wanchai, Hong Kong. At one time yesterday, on one side of the wall stood the visitors to Hong Kong and staff of the hotel being quarantined. They were Dutch, Australians, English, people from other countries and the local staff in the hotel. On the other side were the heads and staff of the other Metro Park Hotels in Kowloon who came to support and cheer the people inside.
Both parties raised their hands and fingers. Those from the street side encouraged the other side to come through the quarantine laid down by the HKSAR Government. On the other hand, those being quarantined acknowledged the support from the people of Hong Kong outside.
Government officials tried to explain, apologize and comfort the people in the hotel in every way through the Press and TV media. The former even wrote letters to the latter to explain every measure they would take to assist the visitors to stay in Hong Kong, deal with their passports, re-order air-tickets for flights home or elsewhere after the “isolation” process. These visitors would be given free entrance tickets to Ocean Park and HK Disneyland, to ride Ngong Ping 360, a $100 valued Octopus card each and many other privileges.

Poor tourists, do they have to pay for the extra-hotel stay and the meals?
Absolutely no. The hotel will not charge them anything. These tourists are forced by the HKSAR Government to stay inside, you know.
If the hotel demands for charges, it is our government to pay.
