Polar Plunge

It was January, 2009, at Antarctica.

Look at how this young man jumped from the passenger ship, Clipper Adventurer. He plunged into the ice-cold water, not to commit suicide, but to mark his bravery.

It was a deathly plunge because his body temperature would be lowered in a matter of seconds. The freezing water could have chilled and paralyzed him suddenly. The crew at the landing platform of the ship had already tied a life-saving rope to the belts of this gentleman. They would pull him back quickly once he was in the water.

This photo looked very nice because we can see the shadow of the young man as well. How interesting to see when the young man and his shadow merged into one at the water surface.
