Faces of Smiles

I liked to look at the facial expressions of Miss L.S. Chan and my old colleagues at the tea lunch yesterday. Faces at the table were forever changing – smiling, laughing ones or serious ones.

For long after retirement, we do not have to pour food into our mouths at lunch time. If we had not retired, we would have rushed back to school for afternoon lessons at such an hour.

L.S. shared a little of her retired life with us. She said she took her mother out for breakfast each morning and later let her meet other elders in a nearby elderly centre.

Miss Ng paid some time talking into her cell-phone. Perhaps she had new appointments with her friends, relatives or students. She ate little at first because she was busy talking. Her moving hands built up her gestures.

Miss Y. Poon mentioned the terribly long meetings held at school in the past. The meetings seemed never to end. Hunger always reminded her that it was already seven o’clock.

Miss Su has just returned from China. She cares about the poor students in China in recent years.

Mrs. Helen Lo has moved to a cosy, new home recently.

Mr. Fung is quite active now. He joins many functions of school, for example, Sports day(s) and very often he meets colleagues and students at lunches or dinners.

Mrs. Diana Chan often turns up at gatherings with old colleagues and students.

Mrs. Ko is furnishing a new flat for family.

Mrs. J. Wong keeps herself cheerful and humorous at all times and said that she joined aerobic dances.

Mrs. Hui did not mention about the dancing lessons with Mrs. Wong this time. I wonder if she still loves this social activity.
