Musee Picasso

Antibes (安提比斯) is a resort town in Southern France between Cannes and Nice. The area around Antibes finally emerged from its long slumber around the middle of the 19th century, as wealthy people from around Europe discovered the beauty of the place and built luxurious homes there.

In 1926, the old castle of Antibes was bought by the local municipal town and later restored for use as a museum. Pablo Picasso came to the town in 1946 and was invited to stay in the castle. Over the period of his six-month stay, Picasso painted and drew as well as crafting ceramics and tapestries. When he departed, Picasso left a number of his works for the town. The castle has since officially became the Musee Picasso (Picasso Museum).

The top left photo shows a painting of the castle, a long distance from it. The castle, made of stone, looks strong. At the top of one of its towers flies the National flag of France. There are sculptures on the low walls facing the Mediterranean Sea. Inside, visitors may find the paintings drawn by Pablo Picasso. These master pieces have influenced and inspired a lot of artists.
