It was December 23rd , 2007. Connie and Philip had to attend a concert in Sheung Wan in the evening. We arrived at Ma On Shan at about six. Dinner was bought from Fairwood Fast Food Restaurant. At that moment, Connie and Philip were ready to leave. Abby sensed that she could not go, so she felt a bit uneasy. To our surprise, as soon as the door was closed behind Connie and Philip, Abby did not cry at all. Perhaps she was used to this kind of departure.
My wife began to feed Abby and me at the same time because Abby might eat better when she saw me eating with her at the same time. Abby was really cooperative that night. She finished all her portion of food. When Abby was fed up, we began to eat ours.
Next, Abby occupied her time on playing the things in my wife’s handbag – leather bag of keys, wrist plastic-band and comb. Next she enjoyed drinking the cup of lemon water from "Fairwood".
When Abby got hold of the comb, she would run into the bedroom to look into the mirror. The television set was then turned on and what interested Abby most were the advertisements. She would imitate familiar sounds and actions made and done by the people in the advertisements.
At one time, Abby asked me to hold her up so that she could turn on the light in the bedroom.. She would say, “Press(噤呀)” and did the pressing. When the light was on, she would like me to play with her the toys of plastic cooking utensils and food kept inside a box underneath the chest of drawers.
At about nine o’clock, my wife gave her milk and at the same time put her to bed. Light was turned off in the bedroom. It seemed Abby was not used to sleep in the dark. Soon Auntie “G”, the Philippino domestic helper, came home. It was supposed to be her holiday, but she was so kind to take care of Abby and was able to put her to sleep.
My wife and I spent the rest of the night watching the film, “Castaway’, played by Tom Hanks. “G” joined us watching too after she took her bath. We watched and watched until it was about mid-night when Connie and Philip returned home.

Abby did not cry on seeing her parents leaving, most probably was because you two were there for her. She felt comfortable with Kung Kung and Poh Poh staying with her.
Anyway, mission achieved.
