Abby is always slim. She wants to be slimmer recently. Yesterday we had lunch together with Abby at a restaurant. At first she asked for water to drink. We let her have a sip, but not another because we feared that she would be fed up with water and refused to eat. The soup came and she had two or three spoonfuls. When we gave her rice, she reluctantly opened her mouth to receive it. The rice stayed in her mouth for a long time. Obviously we ate first, having no patience to wait.
Later, after we had finished eating our food, it was Connie’s turn to feed her with food. Abby did not want to eat at all, so Connie had to push food into her mouth. It might be that her mouth was too full and she cried with resistance, she vomited. Everything in her mouth was spilt out. As a result, her neck, her mouth and face were jammed with tears, food particles, saliva and soup or even milk which she earlier drank. That made Connie very angry. Well, one thing was sure that Abby did not have lunch at all yesterday, but a thorough bath at home from head to feet.

It made us feel that she did not like to eat food at all. What supposed we 
should do to make her eat and enjoy food?

We admire your love, care and concern for Abby but prefer to leave the problem to the expertise of Abby's parents. They know her the best.
We have no clue either... still struggling from forcing to patiently and cruelly wait for her to take the initiative to eat when she feels hungry...

Connie, you are not alone! I have the same problem with my little Adrian as well. We find that he doesn't have the feeling of hunger, meaning he has absolutely no interest in eating whatsoever!!!
Jenn, Adrian might be affected by the medication that he receives... maybe with the completion of the treatment cycle, he can eat better!

Hi Connie, Loretta says that every child (excluding those in the third world countries) has a eating problem, so yep, yours is not alone. I observe that she would give Alison the food she least likes in the beginning and leave her beloved food (rice) at the end. She also doesn't mind too much about cleanliness. When Alison was able to eat solid food, she would sit her in the high chair, buckle her up, and let her grab her food from the high chair table, proceeding to using spoon or fork. She doesn't mind whether Alison eats with utensils or just by hands. She also makes positive reinforcement such as praises to show encouragement.
