Lunch at Maxim’s Restaurant (2) – A Good Beginning

We were happy to see two bowls of rice with meat arrived first at our table. Connie filled Abby’s bowl with some rice and meat, hoping that Abby would take at least some mouthfuls.

Perhaps, Abby was a little hungry at that time. She picked up the large white porcelain spoon which was filled with rice already and pushed the rice into her mouth. It was a good beginning for her.

Soon came a mixed dish of puddings from taro, water-chestnuts and turnip (即芋頭糕, 馬蹄糕, 蘿蔔糕). We were pleased that Abby found great interest in all these three kinds of puddings (三色糕). She gobbled the lumps of puddings with no hesitation. This was a good sign that she learned to eat more varieties of food. Later Abby was given the top piece of “thousand layers ”(千層糕) and a lotus-seed bun (蓮蓉飽).

Abby was holding the lotus-seed bun in her hand, but she just gave a small bite at the surface. I was sure she wanted to eat the bun, but by that time, she was already full. She could eat any more. Although she did not eat a large quantity of food this time, she had just added more “tasty” food names in her own dictionary.

Good to see Abby enjoy her food and you guys enjoy seeing her eat.

Before we finished writing the comment for the 23/5 blog, it's time for us to leave home. Anyway Loretta's opinion is:

* Every child is different, some eat a lot, some eat little and this is fine.

* A child's appetite fluctuates and that's ok. Do not pay too much attention because this is the area you will not win.

* Make the eating environment fun.
